Practical Learning for Complex Behaviours
Designed for professionals working in education, health & disability who support people with behaviours that can be difficult to understand.
When a behaviour is impacting on your clients quality of life the right next step isn’t always obvious. You may be weighing up sensory needs, communication skills, the environment, safety challenges, and what has or hasn’t worked before. All while someone needs you to respond now.
The Practice Academy helps you build the knowledge, tools and confidence to make thoughtful, person-centred decisions in everyday practice.
What’s included in your membership?
Each month we will
Explore an aspect of behaviour in detail
Every month you will be able to access a learning module and related assessment tools that you can use straight away. For example, we might explore sensory processing by talking to an expert, reviewing assessment tools and learning more about the different theories behind sensory processing.Practical templates and resources
Access assessment tools and information on how to use them that will help you organise your thinking, guide assessments and apply what you’ve learned in practice.Masterclasses with a specialist
Hear how experienced professionals approach the questions and challenges that come up in practice.
Each month builds your understanding one topic at a time, with learning you can return to when you need it.
Why do you need The Practice Academy?
Behaviour rarely makes sense in isolation. A response that works for one person may be unhelpful for another, and a strategy that looks good on paper still needs to work in a busy environment.
The Practice Academy gives you space to learn more about the why behind behaviour, explore different perspectives and turn what you learn into practice with assessment tools and real case studies.
You’ll build your ability to:
Notice patterns and consider what might be influencing a behaviour
Use assessment tools to identify pre-cursors to behaviours like sensory challenges, lack of functional skills or environmental factors
Identify interventions that respect the person’s needs, autonomy and dignity
Work more confidently with families, colleagues and other professionals
Reflect on your practice and know when to seek specialist input
Who is behind The Practice Academy?
Hi I’m Jen Wresell, a behaviour analyst, health professional and business owner. Through my clinical and leadership work, I’ve seen how often committed professionals are expected to make complex decisions with too little training and too few practical resources.
I created The Practice Academy to make useful professional learning easier to access and easier to apply. My approach is curious, respectful and neurodiversity affirming. It starts with understanding the person, their context and what supports could make a meaningful difference to their lives.
The Practice Academy is made for the people doing the work
The Practice Academy is for health, education and disability professionals who want to better understand behaviour and strengthen the support they provide.
Whether you’re early in your career or have years of experience, you’re welcome here if you’re curious, reflective and willing to look beyond the behaviour you can see.
